4. When information is shared
We share only the information reasonably needed by trusted service providers such as PayFast, couriers, hosting, email and database providers. They may process information only for the service they provide or as required by law.

5. Cookies and preferences
Strictly necessary storage is used for the shopping cart, security and privacy choices. Optional analytics, functional and marketing cookies remain off unless the customer chooses to enable them.
The website counts visits and shopping steps, such as pages and products viewed, items added to the cart and checkout started, without cookies and without storing IP addresses or other personal details. Visitors cannot be identified from these counts, which are kept for up to 400 days.
Only when a customer allows marketing cookies, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google advertising tags record the pages and products viewed so that Makoye adverts can be shown to that customer on those platforms and their results measured. These tags are not loaded without permission.
A customer may change or withdraw optional consent by clearing the Makoye cookie preferences in the browser and choosing again when the notice appears.
6. Retention and security
Information is retained only for as long as reasonably required to fulfil orders, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations and maintain business records. Artwork may be retained with the order where needed for reprints or dispute resolution.
Reasonable technical and organisational safeguards are used, but no online system can guarantee absolute security. Suspected privacy incidents should be reported promptly to Makoye Gifts.
